Chapter Four: A Letter To My Younger Self

One of the most important things I want you to understand is that EVERYTHING WILL WORK OUT. Even when it seems like the world is crashing down on top of you, take a step back and put the situation in perspective. The thing that you are so embarrassed by, people will soon forget. You think everyone hates you? Does it even really matter? Your friends still love you, and honestly, they are the only ones that matter.

The “popular” girls opinion and comments do not define you, but your morals and the way you treat others determines who you are. There are going to people who don’t like you, and that’s okay! Just realize that your world will not stop if one bitch doesn’t think you’re funny or thinks you are a little weird or doesn’t invite you to hang out. People are going to be rude and hurt your feelings, and the only thing you can do about it is to be the bigger person.

Don’t change yourself for others. You are the only person who knows you, so be true to that person. Sometimes it may seem easier to change yourself so that people will like you; but if you change yourself, you cannot be truly happy. Losing a piece of yourself is not worth the people who did not like you for you. I guess my last word of advice is you do you.

With crass comments and subtle humor,

Apparently Carol
